Author

 Meyer was born in Tacoma, Washington, United States, and attended Pacific Lutheran University, where she received a degree in creative writing. Before writing Cinder, Meyer worked as a book editor for five years and wrote Sailor Moon fan fiction under the pen name of Alicia Blade. In an interview with The News-Tribune, she said that doing the fan fiction helped her learn the craft of writing, gave her instant feedback, and taught her how to take criticism. Meyer is married to Jesse Taylor. In 2015, she and her husband adopted their twin daughters, Sloane and Delaney. Meyer states that she was initially inspired to write Cinder after participating in the 2008 National Novel Writing Month contest where she wrote a story focusing on a futuristic version of Puss in Boots. The Lunar Chronicles is a four-book series (tetralogy) with volumes based on the stories of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Snow White. The first book, Cinder, was a New York Times bestseller. The first book, Heartless, was set for a Fall 2016 release. It is a stand-alone novel. Publishers Weekly announced that she would write a superhero series afterward.

Briefly summarize the book

While Cinder was imprisoned, she met Capitan Throne, a criminal with a lot of crimes in his hand, at first she refused to Capitan Throne s' help, but then she changed of opinion, and they both succeed in escaping from the prison. Meanwhile, a new character is introduced, in France, there was an eighteen-year-old red/headed girl named Scarlet Benoit, who was trying to search her grandmother Michelle Benoit after was kidnapped seventeen days ago, the detectives had closed the case. She was not okay with it, so she delivered vegetables to the tavern and met Wolf,  a street fighter that had a very dark past and he formed part of the Wolves a criminal organization.

Then, he accepted to help Scarlet to find her grandmother, but Scarlet didn't trust him because she thought he was the one who captured her gram, because one of the men which had the same tattoo as Wolf snatched her father and her granny. And also he lied to Scarlet about not having information about her grandmother. 

On the other hand, the emperor Kai was informed about Cinder s' escape from prison, and he the guards to reinforce the prison and to search Cinder, or Queen Levana will kill him. At first, he refused to marry Levana so she decided to start a war between  Eartheners and Lunars, and many people were killed. Meanwhile, Cinder and Capitan Throne were traveling, and they decided to travel to Europe to visit Michelle Benoit so she can tell her past and give her information about the Lunars. 


Cinder and Capitan Throne arrived in Europe and they were seeking Michelle Benoit, and everyone was looking strange at them because they were very famous in the media.

Scarlet, was imprisoned into the Wolf Guard, until she was released to visit her grandmother numerous times until she saw her physically and she was a relief to see her granddaughter but, she asked her why she was there and warned her that she should not be here, the last word she said was: Run!. Scarlett ran and Michelle was killed by one of the wolves. Scarlett was going to be attacked but she was saved by Wolf and she apologizes to him. After this, Cinder and Capitan Throne found Scarlet and Capitan Throne and Wolf fought against the gang of wolves and they fell unconscious. 

At that time, Cinder used her magical powers and dragged the two men with Scarlet and the four went to the ship. Cinder asked Scarlet about her grandmother and she answered that she was dead. In the meantime Kai to stop the war between the Earth and the Lunars, he decided to marry Queen Levana and announced in the media, while, Wolf woke up and met Cinder and Capitan Throne, Cinder also announced to everyone in the ship that she was Princess Selene and Wolf and he replied saying that he could train her. Also, Wolf and Scarlet consolidated their relationship and became a couple. 

Finally, Cinder accepted her identity as princess Selene and she was sad by the marriage of Kai, and worried because Queen Levana could kill him. And she traveled to Africa to visit the Dr. Earstone and wanted Wolf to train her to be a powerful princess and dethrone Queen Levana. 





Describe the character/person who changed the most from the beginning of the book to the end of the book. Explain the change and what caused it.

The character who changed the most was Cinder, what caused the change was the death of her stepsister and the abuse of her stepmother, and her aunt. She changed from being insecure for being secure of herself and accepting her identity as a princess.


Describe a minor character/person in the book who had major importance. Explain.

Michelle Benoit because she was the grandmother of Scarlet Benoit and she interacted with Lunars and she was kidnapped by wolves, also she was important because she was searched by her granddaughter and Cinder. 

Describe one major external conflict and one major internal conflict found in this book.

The Major external conflict is the war between the Earth and the Moon and the major internal conflict is Cinder s' identity.

I rated this book a ten because I loved the history, and I love science fiction and fantasy also because the relationships between the characters are well developed and I feel very identified with Linh Cinder. Also, I loved the narration technique and the surprise effect that gives the author to her story, and that inspires me to keep writing!

Evaluate the end of the book. Considering the book unfolded is it an effective ending and why?

It is an effective ending because it gives more intrigue and suspense to the history itself.

If this book had gone one more chapter, what would have happened?

Cinder will arrive to Africa and have a meeting with Dr.Earnest.
